Again!

I am still alive, believe it or not. The past three months have been extremely busy, and I've admittedly been a little lax about updating this, but now that I've just signed a contract for a new story (!!) I wanted to write something.

First, the new story: Less Than Three Press will be publishing Seventh, my pseudo-historical about a nredy historian and his research assistant/dashing friend/tentative love interest, and the long-forgotten mystery they end up investigating. I'm really excited! I'll be sure to update-- more regularly, even-- as it goes through the publication process.

In other news, I have a bunch of ideas I'm poking at, NaNoWriMo is coming up and I'm completely at sea about what to write, my RL job is kicking into high(er) gear, and I have a certification test coming up in late October. In all, it will be miraculous if I make any real writing progress in the next month or so; nonetheless, I'm feeling pretty good about the state of things right now.

More to come!

New Release: Blood Tells

So I've managed to crawl out of the hole I've been hiding in just in time for an announcement: Blood Tells is officially out! The synopsis is as follows:

Nineteen years ago, Demetrius Fallon was accused of murdering his father by way of a rare, unusual poison. When the crown prince is nearly killed the same way, Demetrius agrees to work with Rodger Dalme, the handsome, friendly captain assigned to the case, in order to find the culprit and prove his innocence once and for all.

But there is treachery in every corner, and if he hopes to untangle the lies of the present, Demetrius will first have to face the shadows of his past...

At this point, I'm not sure if I'm proud of this story or just sick of it, but either way, I'm glad it's out. If you like anxiety-ridden sorcerers and past tragedies coming back to haunt people, check it out! It's got all that and more.

One of the things I like to do while writing is draw stuff, mostly characters and occasionally settings. I originally planned to celebrate the release of Blood Tells by posting a couple of the sketches I did while writing it, but things have picked up a lot and I'm super behind, so the sketches will probably have to wait until the weekend.

In the meantime, you can purchase Blood Tells from the Less Than Three Press book market here. Enjoy!

Welcome!

First posts are always miserable, so I'm going to keep this short: this will be, ideally, my writing blog, inasmuch as I manage to maintain a writing blog. Thanks for stopping by! There's not much here right now, but it's early yet.

As a kid, I always gravitated most toward fantasy, and that's reflected in my own works. Scorpion Blues, published with Less Than Three Press, is the story of two manchildren men in a steampunkish Old West who go in search of a missing aristocrat and find trouble instead. They're a pair of absolute losers and I had a lot of fun writing them. Blood Tells, my upcoming novel, centers around a sorcerer in fantasy pseudo-Prague who needs to clear his name after he's accused of poisoning the crown prince. He's also a loser. It's kind of a running theme.

Blood Tells comes out in July, and I'm looking forward to its publication immensely. If the synopsis sounds interesting-- magic! Betrayal! Awkward, fumbling romance!-- hop on over to Less Than Three Press on July 9th and check it out.

(Also, if you're interested in baking, I also have a bread blog here; it contains 80% less losers and 100% more deliciousness.)
